Notting Hill Carnival

This past weekend the legendary Notting Hill Carnival took place in London, and as we enjoyed ourselves so much last year we headed back up, for a day of dancing, eating and of course drinking. We spent the day strolling the streets and watching the parade, raving on street corners and indulging the jerk chicken. We headed back to our hotel early evening, to freshen up and head out into Soho for a well-deserved night out. We headed to La Bodega Negra for dinner (which I highly recommend if your after something of the beaten track) and on to party till the early hours. London, we love you. 

an Olympic trip

How good was this weekends Olympics then?? OMG I was on the edge of my seat for the whole weekend. On Saturday morning Si and I made the trip up to London to get involved in some Olympic action. We weren't lucky enough to get any tickets, but we took the early train in to catch the Triathlon. There were so many people, and it was great to get involved and feel apart of something. I came prepared with my camera kit, to find out I forgot to put the battery in. Massive fail, so I'm afraid you only get a few I phone pics.

The triathlon took place in Hyde park, so after that finished we took to the big screens to cheer on the rowers and athletes. It was great fun, so if your venturing to London make sure you go before the week is out. It is free to enter and they have great bands playing nightly. I also made a little video whilst I was up there. Enjoy.

                           

over the weekend

Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it? We managed to cram in loads over the weekend, and to top it off it didn't even rain {down south anyway} I managed to see friends, family and spend quality time with my man {sorry I couldn't resist, I don't normally call him that}we had a fun filled day in London with our good friends Lauren and Sam. We had our first experience on the Boris bikes and took a spot of culture in at the Tate Gallery. We also revisited Byron for their melt in your mouth burgers {I definitely shouldn't be writing this whilst I am starving *groan*}the weekend was topped off taking in the nice weather along the coast from Brighton.

*note Sunday was my turn for date day. I was supposed to take Si rock pooling, but because my brain won't let me do anything right, we turned up when it was high tide. I am the worst.

I spent the weekend in London with my lovely jubbly friends for 'Harriet's' Birthday. We drank loads, reminisced, sang a lot, gossiped, ate loads and generally had a fantastic time together.

AND IT SNOWED. YIPPEE!

I'm afraid there is no snow related, drunken mess mishaps to report on though.

How was everyone's weekend?

So when I went to visit Lauren last weekend {and Bruno of course} we ventured out onto Northcote road {Clapham} to get some grub. The road is full with bars, restaurants and cafes, but not all the chains that you would normally expect, which was quite refreshing, as I normally end up in either Wagamamas or Pizza Express. So with no familiarity, and every cuisine at our fingertips, we ended up in a burger bar called Byron. As I now know {due to a quick googling session} Byron actually is a small chain based around London, but it was all new for me.

‘To do a simple thing well, and do it properly’ is how the food is described, and I wouldn’t second judge that decision. The menu is simple, so if you are like me and struggle to make a decision when the waitress takes your order, than this will be perfect for you.

We ordered Milkshakes, cheese-burgers, chips and mac and cheese on the side. {My tummy is literally rumbling at the thought of how good the burgers where}  

The burger was cooked to perfection, the French fries where crispy, and the Mac and cheese, oh don’t even get me started on the Mac and cheese {drooling open mouthed-reminiscing} Best of all it only came to 15 smackers each.

Notting Hill Carnival: vintage

So last month 3 great friends and I made the journey up to London to check out the Worlds famous Notting Hill Carnival. We indulged in Caribbean food (jerk chicken with rice and peas) and enjoyed a few cheeky ciders. We strolled around the streets taking in the array of different people there, even little kids bopping away with their parents. We stumbled across Portobello Road, and soon found ourselves back where we started, having not even covered a quarter of the festival. Did anyone else go? What did you think?
