at the weekend

I’m not sure how it is Tuesday already? The weekend seems like a lifetime ago. But I had a good one. We spent the evening in on Saturday, which was well needed, and watched The Notebook for the millionth time. It is still my favourite film, and of course I cried a little. During the day we met my sister in mum in town, and went to the cinema to watch Taken 2, and despite what the critics think (and I think I am a pretty harsh critic myself) I thought it was quite good. So there, have that critics!
Sunday was spent at Ikea, much to Si’s disgust. Don’t you just love that place? And then onto McDonalds for our 2nd burger of the week (I promise we are not normally this bad)

Until the next one...

happy weekend

The sun is out, we managed to have breakfast in the garden (for the first time) and just been for an epic workout. We are now on Auntie and Uncle duty for the rest of the weekend, so wish us luck...

I must tell you about my weekend off, dare I say it, parenting. Well Si and I actually played the part of Auntie and Uncle for most of the weekend too our 2 nieces. This was our first time, like ever looking after anything as precious as a little human, and being soley responsible for their safety and well being. They where mad, right, to be leaving their pride and joy with us? It will be a breeze, yer? So we kid proofed the house, got the chalk board ready, bought the supplies for making cakes and took a big deep breath for the whirlwind off a 4 year old and a 20 month old to come through the door. So we took them to the park, jumped on the bed, danced in the kitchen and played with the buggys all before digging in to my healthy dinner off pizza and chips {hand over face} After they where all tucked up and deep in the land off nod, we finally looked at each other and realised that with kids involved there is no hand holding, hardly any kissing and hardly no time for adult chatting. It made me a little sad, but also very optimistic about our future and that we are both very capable off looking after a child. I watched Si from a far getting into the role of ‘dad’ and I must say, I liked it :)

An Aussie Farewell

My younger sister Sarah, is leaving me L she is finally flying the nest, but not just to a new flat in town, but to the other side of the world, to Sunny Australia. She goes in less than a week, and is off to meet 3 of her friends to travel down the East Coast for 6 weeks. She is then venturing off on her own, to work and travel for at least a year. I am so very proud of her, as she has always said she wanted to go, and has finally got the guts to go and do it on her own, and to change her life. I plan to visit sometime next year, and I can’t wait. So, on Sunday we held a mini family gathering to say farewell to the youngest Knight of the family (okay excluding the kids)
